Friday Books: Elephants Swim by Linda Capus Riley

Posted by: | May 11, 2012

My 3-year-old son attends a get-ready-for-preschool class each week at our local library. The teacher often gives him books to take home. Recently she gave him the following title:

Elephants Swim by Linda Capus Riley

I really like this book! The illustrations (cut paper design) are lovely (by Steve Jenkins), the rhyming text is brief and clear (great for young readers who want to memorize the words) and the book is gracefully informative.

“Elephants swim with their trunks held high.”

“Kangaroos swim, but their babies stay dry.”

“Tigers swim to get our of the heat.”

“Jaguars scoop up fish to eat.”

There are additional notes at the back of the book for those who want to learn more about each animal.

Purchase the book online or visit your local library to check out a copy!
